Lionsclub.jpg Pompey Lions Club- Serving Our Community Since 1965

QUESTION:  When you hear the words "Pompey Lions" what comes to mind?

ANSWER #1: They have the best pancake breakfasts.
ANSWER #2: They hold a really good auction in June with some pretty good stuff.
ANSWER #3: Another one of those "guys" clubs that meet occasionally and socialize.

Well we are all the above, but not limited to just "guys".

In addition to that we are the following:

The Pompey Lions Club is a member of an International organization called Lions Club International.

Lions Club International was founded in 1917 and is well known today for their work towards an end to preventable blindness.  you can find information on Lions Club International on the web at: www.lionsclub.org.

The Pompey Lions Club was formed in 1965 and at the present time consists of 35 members. We are a service organization dedicated to addressing the needs of our community and our extended communities. We embrace the motto of the Lions Club International as our own: "WE SERVE."

Our club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at the Pompey Firehouse during the months of September thru June.

Local organizations/youth groups have the opportunity to raise money towards their cause by providing dinners for one or more of our meetings.

We are governed by a Board of Directors that is elected annually by the full membership. The Board of Directors includes the President, three Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and a group of Directors.

Financally, the club maintains two budgets- Administrative and Activities. Our purpose is clear: community fundraising supports the community, not the club.

The Administrative budget is funded by member dues and interanal funding. This budget covers all expenses of operating the club, which is organized as the Pompey Lions Club.

The Activities budget is supported by the net of all community fundraising activities. It cannot be stressed enough the net of all our fundraising activities supports the community (not the club.)

We support the following:
Vision 2000
Lions Camp Badger
Lions Camp Hickory
Aurora of Central New York
Leader Dogs For The Blind
ARISE at the Farm
